The Letter to Thyatira (Revelation 2:18–29) Explained
The longest letter to the smallest city — growing love and service, the warning about 'Jezebel' and authority over the nations.
The longest letter, the least ruins
Thyatira receives the longest of the seven letters even though little survives at Akhisar today. It was a trade town known for guilds and purple dye — Lydia of Acts 16 came from here.
Growing works, one warning
Christ praises love, faith, service and endurance that increase over time, then warns against tolerating 'Jezebel,' a figure teaching immorality and idol food tied to guild feasts.
Hold fast
Faithful believers are simply told to hold what they have until He comes, with the promise of authority over the nations and the morning star.
